It's the return of The Big Knit!
We need your help to knit 40,000 little hats!
Help raise money for Age Scotland by knitting tiny bobble hats for innocent smoothie bottles
Every year we ask Scotland's knitters to get out their needles and create tiny bobble hats to keep bottles of innocent smoothies warm in winter. For every little hat sent for smoothie bottles to wear, 25p is donated to Age Scotland.

Novice knitters can easily master this simple pattern and more advanced knitters can challenge themselves to create something more outlandish - any colour, yarn, stitching or design, as long as it will fit on the 4cm-wide bottle top, and is knitted - just look at some of last year's favourites! It can also feature a bobble of some kind.
So, get out your knitting needles and start stitching! You can download the patterns by clicking on the one you want below. You'll need Adobe software to view them, which can be downloaded by clicking here.
Send your completed hats to Joyce Sperber at Age Scotland, Causewayside House, 160 Causewayside, Edinburgh EH9 1PR by 13th September 2010.

Events News - Anglesey Runners Raise Over £1,500!
![]()
Congratulations and a massive thank you to Derek and Paula Cochrane who ran their socks off on Sunday, 20th September at the Anglesey Marathon and 10k to raise more than £1,500 for Age Scotland.
Paula completed a very, very hilly 10k in 1hr 4mins and 14secs - a fantastic time!
Derek, running only his second marathon in 13 years, managed an incredible time of 3hrs 8mins and 43secs - finishing in 10th place.
Both Paula and Derek should be very proud of this huge achievement and we cannot thank them both enough for the money that they have raised to help older people across Scotland.

The winner of the ACS staff 'best hat' award 2008
Our popular annual fundraising event is usually held the first Friday in December and encourages companies, community groups and schools to raise money to help keep older people warm each winter. Across Scotland people can wear a hat on the day in exchange for a suggested donation of £1 to Age Scotland.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us raise over £4000 for Wear a Hat Day 2009, this is a fantastic amount to have raised so far! We are waiting for a few more donations to come in and hope to reach a target of £6000.
If you took part in Wear a Hat Day 2009 but haven't sent your donation in yet it is not too late! Click here for information on how to donate to Age Scotland.
