Age Concern Scotland and Help the Aged in Scotland

Age Concern Scotland and Help the Aged in Scotland have taken an historic decision to join together to create a new charity from April 1st 2009.  The new charity will strive to represent all of Scotland's older people and provide a united voice.

Across the UK, all Age Concern national bodies will unite with Help the Aged, creating four new nation-based charities for older people.  Bringing together two well-established names in the field of ageing will combine over 100 years of experience in working to promote a better quality of life for older people.

In Scotland we have moved in together, with Help the Aged in Scotland staff moving into the larger premises of Age Concern Scotland in Edinburgh's Causewayside (Contact Us).

The new charity will operate with a new constitution and a new board and will be developing a new name and brand.  For the time being we will be known as: Age Concern and Help the Aged in Scotland.  From spring 2010 we will be known as Age Scotland.

The new charity will reach over 5 million people across the UK through its information and advice services, and its trading activities will reach over 17 million people.  It will have the most extensive policy and research capacity ever assembled for an older people's charity in the UK.
